About This Project:
I am a book lover, particularly of contemporary romance, but those book covers are terrible. The flatly illustrated, interchangeable covers are boring and always unrelated to an individual book's substance. The kicker? The best books have the worst covers, so I redesigned them using motifs, themes, and symbolism from each book.
This project is aptly named "By its Cover" because I picked every single book by cover only. No summaries, no reviews. I also read each book to weed out which were worthy of the redesign and which could be put back on the shelf. This process took around eight months, and I suffered through some pretty bad books. The takeaway? Don't judge books by their cover.
